Tables, charts and accessibility

Many charts and tables are non-accessible to screen readers because they rely on proper HTML coding to interpret them correctly. 

  • Display information in an alternative format, such as bullet points with clear headings. 

  • If a chart/table makes the most sense for your page, use proper HTML coding and alt text to help screen readers associate the data in cells with their appropriate headers. 

  • Use captions and summaries of what the table/chart shows.
